Dharakote is a semi-urban village located in the Dharakote Block of Ganjam district in the Indian state of Odisha. It is home to around 8,000 people and is surrounded by mountains, rivers, and fountains. The village is also home to a famous king palace and several other landmarks such as block headquarters, police stations and beautiful temples. One of the most famous events in Dharakote is the annual cart festival attended by thousands peoples from the near by villages.

Raksha Bandhan (Rakhi Bandhan) is celebrated in shravana
month of purnima day.This festival is observed by Hindu, Sikhs and Muslims.Rakhai Bandhan Festival clebraetes a brother and sisters
relationship. The central ceremony involves the tying
of a rakhi (sacred
thread) by a sister on her brother's wrist. This symbolizes the sister’s
love and prayers for her brother’s well being and the brothers lifelong vow to
protece her.
It describes the unconditional love and affection shared between
brother and sister.
