Dharakote is a semi-urban village located in the Dharakote Block of Ganjam district in the Indian state of Odisha. It is home to around 8,000 people and is surrounded by mountains, rivers, and fountains. The village is also home to a famous king palace and several other landmarks such as block headquarters, police stations and beautiful temples. One of the most famous events in Dharakote is the annual cart festival attended by thousands peoples from the near by villages.

Bhubaneswar, June 10: Fourteen-year-old Sulakshyana Deepanjali has been coroneted as the king of that Dharakote, an erstwhile princely state in Ganjam district.A student of Class IX, Sulakshyana happens to be the only child of Kishore Chandra Singhdeo who passed away recently.
“I’m happy that my daughter has assumed the responsibility to look after the people of Dharakote. I hope she will perform up to the expectation of her people and prove herself as able administrator like Rani Laxmi Bai,” Nandi Devi, mother of Sulakshyana told reporters during the coronation ceremony on Tuesday evening.The princess, while taking the royal oath, assured the delegates gathering fulfill the unfinished development works launched her father and grand father.

With her coronation, Sulakshyana became the first member ruler of Dharakote kingdom in its 842 years of history.Over five thousand people participated in the coronation ceremony that continued for the whole night.Former minister and Patnagarh king Kanak Vardhan Singhdeo and senior BJP leader Jayanarayan Mishra also attended the function.
