ReplyDeleteHi I was a friend of Late Raja Chandra Singh Deo.I happen to be in Orissa Around the Super cyclone period.I was a project co-coordinator for a mineral processing company then. The Yuvaraj as he was known then took great interest in the development of the region and even though he was in congress then he was not happy about the way the C.M. of Orissa Giridhali Lal Gomang ruled the state.During the super cyclone he on his own interest distributed food and rations to the needy people. He had a varied interest in worldly subjects and was well informed about the world affairs in days when the was not much tv or the internet.I was fortunate enough to accompany him on the day the district collector opened the gravity dam shutters in the hills Which, because of the efforts of our yuvaraj, who under took to clean and dredge the channel from the dam to the lower regions on his own expense. After the valve shutter was opened for the water he was there at the lower fields till the water reached the lower lands for irrigation. It is nostalgic re-living of your old times and also to bring to the worlds notice of finer things about a great man with this first hand account.
